Cactus Cantina

The stars at night are shining bright at the most Texan of Tenleytown restaurants.

Cactus Cantina hollers Texas from the decor and the tunes. Is that a giant picture of Annie Oakley? Yes sirree. To celebrate the (almost) end of classes, my school organized a section party for my 80 classmates and I at said Cantina. Despite some minor problems with our giant crowd, there was plenty of seating and the waitstaff were very considerate. All of the doctrinal instructors (with one notable exception) made it out to celebrate.

For some reason, the smell of Tex-Mex makes me rather nostalgic for younger, more carefree times. The chicken quesidillas were heavenly. The water pitchers were filled with seltzer instead of tap. The rice was perfectly cooked. The margaritas were appropriately large and served in steins. Was this heaven? I could not think of a better reward for a year of classes (almost) completed in good standing. If you are a Texan stranded in Northwest DC, this place should hit the spot.
