Sometimes you feel like a 包 (bun).
At Szechuan House bakery, at the intersection of 6th and H Street, N.W., I picked up some pork buns and egg tarts, dim sum staples. At $1.25 a piece, these are a little pricey for Chinese pastries, but they are very tasty. Sometimes when I'm in Chinatown, I just want something small to nibble on that won't clash with Tsingdao, or I want to bring home something that I know my parents will enjoy. When I'm on the red line and I have a hankering for a bun stuffed with butter and sugar, or a sandwich of roasted pork, this place hits the spot.
